How to adopt a rescue cat

Thank you for considering adopting a rescue cat. Here are the steps you will need to follow in order to adopt from us:

1 - Check that you meet all our adoption criteria.

In order to adopt from The Moggery you must:

  • Own your home.
  • Have access to a garden.
  • Live away from a main road or bus route.
  • Have a cat flap installed, or be prepared to install one into your house.
  • Be prepared to pay veterinary bills for a possible 18-20 years.
  • Live in the wider Bristol area.

If you do not meet these requirements right now you could always consider becoming a foster home or volunteer until your circumstances change!

2 - Browse our cats online

To make an appointment to view please call 0117 924 3128. Please be aware not all cats are featured on line so call Christine for today's specials!

3 - Adopt a cat.

We do not charge fees for our cats, but we do ask that you make a generous donation towards the vet bills of the cat you have chosen.

All cats more than 20 weeks old have been:

  • Spayed or neutered.
  • Treated for worms and fleas.
  • Microchipped.

4 - Follow post-adoption instructions

For kittens:

  • Arrange to have your kitten neutered / spayed and micro-chipped.
  • Keep your kitten indoors until they have been neutered and are at least 5 1/2 months old.
  • If you don't already have one installed, install a cat flap that goes into the house.
  • Receive your 3-month progress check.
  • Arrange to have your cat vaccinated every year, and give them all necessary veterinary care throughout their lifetime.

For adult cats:

  • If you don't already have one installed, install a cat flap.
  • Arrange to have your cat vaccinated every year, and give them all necessary veterinary care throughout their lifetime.
  • Receive your 3-month progress check.
